TOWN BOARD MEETING TOWN OF CASEY Casey Town Hall August 11, 2009 7:00 p.m. Minutes 1. Call the town board meeting to order. At 7:00 p.m., the town board meeting was called to order by Chairperson Gene Bethel, at the Casey Town Hall. 2. Confirmation of proper meeting notice. Chairperson Bethel posted the meeting notice and agenda on August 7, 2009, in the posting cabinets located at the town hall, at the junction of Dunn Lake and Island Lake Roads, at the junction of Pair O Lakes Road and County Trunk E and at the junction of Blackburn Road and County Trunk E between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. 3. Roll call. Roll call taken. Present: Gene Bethel, Chairperson; Danny Swearingen, Supervisor; Michael Wallace, Supervisor; Corinne Slabaugh, Clerk; Cherie Luell, Treasurer. Also in attendance: Mary Emerson and Martin Deppe. 4. Approval of agenda. Discussion and action. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to approve agenda. Motion carried. 5. Minutes of July 8 and July 15, 2009 town board meeting. Discussion and action. Clerk Slabaugh read the minutes of July 8, 2009 town board meeting. Chairperson Bethel asked for additions or corrections to the minutes. None given. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to accept minutes as read. Motion carried. Minutes of July 15, 2009 town board meeting read. Chairperson Bethel asked for additions or corrections to the minutes. None given. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to accept minutes as read. Motion carried. 6. Treasurer’s report and report of accounts receivable. Discussion and action. Treasurer Luell gave the following report: In Johnson Bank – as of 06/30/09 in the checking account was $143,475.38. General Deposits $58,637.06. Interest $126.18. Total Credits $202,238.62. Checks Returned $38,581.07. Bank Statement Balance on 07/31/09 $163,657.55. Outstanding Checks $46,471.00. Reconciled Balance on 07/31/09 $117,186.55. Discussion followed. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to accept treasurer’s report as read. Motion carried. 7. Public comments. Good comment on Blackburn Road. Concern on Deer Lake Road. 8. Zoning permits. Discussion and action. None. 9. Road maintenance. Discussion and action. a. Complaints and compliments. None. b. Monthly report on road projects. Chairperson Bethel and Supervisor Swearingen gave an update on road projects. c. Authorize proposed order of new road signs. Discussion followed. 10. Proposed letter to property owners on Deer Lake concerning Casey Creek culvert at Lower McKenzie. Discussion and action. Chairperson Bethel read the proposed letter to property owners on Deer Lake. Discussion followed. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to mail letters to property owners on Deer Lake. Motion carried. 11. Applications for Liquor, Cigarette, and Operators Licenses. Examination and action. None. 12. Update on election site compliance. Discussion and action. Discussion followed. 13. Report on workshops attended and those who will be attending upcoming workshops. Discussion and action. Clerk Slabaugh will be attending a meeting on August 12, 2009, in Rice Lake, concerning Possible Early Voting for Wisconsin. 14. Correspondence. Action and filing. Correspondence read by the board. Discussion followed. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen for Chairperson Bethel to respond to the Roy Naslund correspondence. Motion carried. On motion by Swearingen / Wallace to file correspondence. Motion carried. 15. Paying of bills. Discussion and action. Bill numbers 5078 – 5087 submitted to the board for approval. The board discussed and initialed each bill approved. On motion by Bethel / Wallace to pay bill numbers 5078 – 5087. Motion carried. 16. Set date for next town board meeting. The next town board meeting will be Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at 7:00 p.m., at the Casey Town Hall. 17. Adjournment. At 8:35 p.m., on motion by Swearingen / Wallace to adjourn. Motion carried.
