TOWN BOARD MEETING TOWN OF CASEY Casey Town Hall Wednesday, February 9, 2011 7:00 p.m. Minutes 1. Call the town board meeting to order. At 7:00 p.m., the town board meeting was called to order by Chairperson Gene Bethel, at the Casey Town Hall. 2. Confirmation of proper meeting notice. Chairperson Bethel posted the meeting notice and agenda on February 4, 2011, in the posting cabinets located at the town hall, at the junction of Dunn Lake and Island Lake Roads, at the junction of Pair O Lakes Road and County Trunk E, and at the junction of Blackburn Road and County Trunk E between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. 3. Roll call. Roll call taken. Present: Gene Bethel, Chairperson; Danny Swearingen, Supervisor; Michael Wallace, Supervisor; Corinne Slabaugh, Clerk; Cherie Luell, Treasurer. Also in attendance: Mary Emerson, Gary Root, and Lori Brown. 4. Approval of the agenda. Discussion and action. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to approve agenda. Motion carried. 5. Minutes of January 12, 2011 town board meeting. Discussion and action. Clerk Slabaugh read the minutes of January 12, 2011, town board meeting. Chairperson Bethel asked for additions or corrections to the minutes. None given. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to accept minutes as read. Motion carried. 6. Treasurer’s report and report of accounts receivable. Discussion and action. Treasurer Luell gave the following report. In Johnson Bank – as of 12/31/10 $660,075.96. General Deposits $28,230.20. Payment on Paul Henk returned check $1,222.12. Tax Deposits $858,936.13. Tax Overpayment (to be refunded to tax payer) $3,288.12. Interest $480.78. Total Credits $1,552,233.31. Checks Returned $465,584.47. Check charge $94.26. Total Debits $465,678.73. Bank Statement Balance 01/31/11 $1,086,554.58. Outstanding Checks $5,334.30. Reconciled Balance 01/31/11 $1,081,220.28. Discussion followed. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to accept treasurer’s report as read. Motion carried. 7. Zoning permits. Discussion and action. None given. 8. Public comments. None given. 9. Road maintenance. Discussion and action. a. Update on winter roads and proposed spring road projects. Chairperson Bethel gave an update on winter roads and proposed spring road projects. b. Update research and action taken on history of Melsvck Road. Chairperson Bethel gave an update on history of Melsvck Road. c. Complaints and compliments. None given. 10. Applications for Liquor, Cigarette, and Operators Licenses. Examination and action. Operator license application from: Belinda S Emmerich. Board viewed the application. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to grant an operator license to Belinda S Emmerich. 11. Report on workshops attended and those who will be attending upcoming workshops. Discussion and action. Chairperson Bethel attended and reported on the Fire district meeting held on January 16, 2011 and also the Washburn County Unit, W.T.A. meeting held on January 26, 2011. Clerk Slabaugh, Betty Swonger, and Karen Hrouda attended an Election WisLine on February 2, 2011. Upcoming, North Memorial Ambulance, Annual Ambulance Operations Update Meeting to be held Tuesday, February 22, 2011. 12. Update on upcoming primary and general elections. Discussion and action. There will be three election inspectors per shift at the February 15, 2011, Spring Primary Election. 13. Correspondence. Action and filing. Correspondence read by the board. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to file correspondence. Motion carried. 14. Paying of bills. Discussion and action. Bill numbers 5447 – 5474 submitted to the board for approval. The board discussed and initialed each bill approved. On motion by Bethel / Wallace to pay bill numbers 5447 – 5474. Motion carried. 15. Set date for next town board meeting. The next town board meeting will be Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at 7:00 p.m., at the Casey Town Hall. 16. Adjournment. At 8:00 p.m., on motion by Wallace / Swearingen to adjourn. Motion carried.
