Minutes
1. Call the town board meeting to order.
At 7:00 p.m., the town board meeting was called to order by
Chairperson Gene Bethel, at the Casey Town Hall.
2. Confirmation of proper meeting notice.
Chairperson Bethel posted the meeting notice and agenda on January 9,
2010, in the posting cabinets located at the town hall, at the
junction of Dunn Lake and Island Lake Roads, at the junction of Pair O
Lakes Road and County Trunk E, and at the junction of Blackburn Road
and County Trunk E between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and10:00 a.m.
3. Roll call.
Roll call taken. Present: Gene Bethel, Chairperson; Danny
Swearingen, Supervisor; Michael Wallace, Supervisor; Corinne
Slabaugh, Clerk, and Cherie Luell, Treasurer arrived at 7:28 p.m.
Also in attendance: Terrence Ormsby, Mary Emerson, and Betty
Seckora.
4. Approval of the agenda. Discussion and action.
Discussion followed. On motion by Swearingen / Wallace to approve the
agenda and move item # 6 between item # 11 and #12. Motion carried.
5. Minutes of December 9, 2009 town board meeting. Discussion and
action.
Clerk Slabaugh read the minutes of December 9, 2009 town board
meeting. Chairperson Bethel asked for additions or corrections to the
minutes. None given. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to accept
minutes as read. Motion carried.
7. Zoning permits. Discussion and action.
None given.
8. Public comments.
Mary Emerson reported on Plan Commission Meeting.
9. Road maintenance. Discussion and action.
a. Update on winter roads.
Chairperson Bethel and Supervisor Swearingen gave an update of
winter roads.
b. Complaints and compliments.
None given.
c. Motion authorizing Chair Bethel to complete and submit required
paperwork in
compliance with the competitive wage law.
Discussion followed. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen
authorizing Chairperson Bethel to complete and submit
required paperwork in compliance with the competitive wage
law.
10. Application for Liquor, Cigarette, and Operators Licenses.
Examination and action.
None given.
11. Report on workshops attended and those who will be attending
upcoming workshops.
There are Election Trainings, January 14, and January 20, 2010 that
Clark Slabaugh plans to attend. January 27, 2010, will be a meeting
of the Washburn County Unit of Wisconsin Towns Association. February
6, 2010, will be the Wisconsin Towns Association District meeting at
Cumberland - Board of Review certified training.
6. Treasurer’s report and report of account receivable. Discussion
and action.
Treasurer Luell gave the following report: In Johnson Bank - as of
11/30/09 in the checking account was $179,596.69. General Deposits
$187.50. Tax Deposits $497,550.82. Interest $124.00. Total
Credits $677,459.01. Checks Returned $80,222.34. Bank Statement
Balance on 12/31/09 $597,236.67. No outstanding checks. Reconciled
Balance on 12/31/09 $597,236.67. Discussion followed. On motion by
Wallace / Swearingen to accept treasurer’s report as read. Motion
carried.
12. Correspondence. Action and filing.
Correspondence read by the board. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen
to file correspondence. Motion carried.
13. Paying of bills. Discussion and action.
Bill numbers 5166 – 5193 submitted to the board for approval. The
board discussed and initialed each bill approved. On motion by Bethel
/ Wallace to pay bill numbers 5166 – 5193. Motion carried.
14. Set date for next town board meeting.
The next Town Board meeting will be Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at
7:00 p.m., at the Casey Town Hall.
15. Adjournment.
At 8:23 p.m., on motion by Bethel / Swearingen to adjourn. Motion
carried.
