TOWN BOARD MEETING TOWN OF CASEY Casey Town Hall January 14, 2009 Immediately after Election Caucus Approximately 7:15 p.m. Minutes 1. Call the town board meeting to order. At 7:22 p.m., the town board meeting was called to order by Chairperson Gene Bethel, at the Casey Town Hall. 2. Confirmation of proper meeting notice. Chairperson Bethel posted the meeting notice and agenda on January 11, 2009, in the posting cabinets located at the town hall, at the junction of Dunn Lake and Island Lake Roads, at the junction of Pair O Lakes Road and County Trunk E, and at the junction of Blackburn Road and County Trunk E between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. 3. Roll call. Roll call taken. Present: Gene Bethel, Chairperson; Danny Swearingen, Supervisor; Michael Wallace, Supervisor; Corinne Slabaugh, Clerk; Cherie Luell, Treasurer. Also in attendance: Robert Swan. 4. Approval of the agenda. Discussion and action. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to approve agenda. Motion carried. 5. Minutes of December 10, 2008 town board meeting. Discussion and action. Clerk Slabaugh read the minutes of December 10, 2008 town board meeting. Chairperson Bethel asked for additions or correction to the minutes. None given. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to accept minutes as read. Motion carried. 6. Treasurer’s report and report of account receivable. Discussion and action. Treasurer Luell gave the following report: In the Johnson Bank – as of 11/30/08 in the checking account was $168,313.03. General Deposits $593.81. Tax Deposits $286,769.32. Interest $177.63. Total Credits $455,853.79. Checks Returned $71,718.42. Bank State Balance on 12/31/08 $384,135.37. Outstanding Checks $40.58. Reconciled Balance on 12/31/08 $384,094.79. Discussion followed. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to accept treasurer’s report as read. Motion carried. 7. Zoning permits. Discussion and action. None. 8. Public comments. None. 9. Road maintenance. Discussion and action. a. Update on winter roads. Supervisor Swearingen gave an update on winter roads. b. Establish roads to have right-of-ways cleared by Gordon Prison Camp between February 16th and March 4th. Discussion followed. c. Update on application for federal funding to re-engineer feeder roads to Stresau Labs. Chairperson Bethel gave an update on the application for federal funding. d. Complaints and compliments. None. 10. Motion establishing annual fee for local merchants phone numbers and / or website links listed under local businesses link on Town of Casey website. Discussion and action. Discussion followed. On motion by Bethel / Swearingen establishing an annual calendar year rate of twenty dollar for area merchants to secure a listing of their website address and / or business phone number on the Town of Casey website under a tab labeled local services. This twenty dollar rate will not be pro-rated expires on January 1ST each year. Area merchants not renewing their listing by the January monthly meeting of the Casey Town Board will have their listing removed at our earliest convenience. Motion carried. 11. Application for Liquor, Cigarette, and Operators Licenses. Examination and action. None. 12. Report on workshops attended and those who will be attending upcoming workshops. There were no workshops attended. Upcoming workshop – February 7, 2009, at Siren (Northwoods Crossing Event Center), will be the WTA District Meeting. Chairperson Bethel, Supervisors Swearingen and Wallace, and Treasurer Luell will attend. 13. Correspondence. Action and filing. Correspondence read by board. On motion by Bethel / Swearingen to file correspondence. Motion carried. 14. Paying of bills. Discussion and action. Bills numbers 4931 – 4954 submitted to the board for approval. The board discussed and initialed each bill approved. On motion by Bethel / Wallace to pay bills numbers 4931 – 4954. Motion carried. 15. Set date for next town board meeting. The next town board meeting will be Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at 7:00 p.m., at the Casey Town Hall. 16. Adjournment. At 8:22 p.m., on motion by Bethel / Wallace to adjourn. Motion carried.
