TOWN BOARD MEETING TOWN OF CASEY Casey Town Hall June 10, 2009 7:00 p.m. Minutes 1. Call the town board meeting to order. At 7:00 p.m., the town board meeting was called to order by Chairperson Gene Bethel, at the Casey Town Hall. 2. Confirmation of proper meeting notice. Chairperson Bethel posted the meeting notice and agenda on June 7, 2009, in the posting cabinets located at the town hall, at the junction of Dunn Lake and Island Lake Roads, at the junction of Pair O Lakes Road and County Trunk E and at the junction of Blackburn Road and County Trunk E between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. 3. Roll call. Roll call taken. Present: Gene Bethel, Chairperson; Danny Swearingen, Supervisor; Michael Wallace, Supervisor; Corinne Slabaugh, Clerk; Cherie Luell, Treasurer. Also in attendance: Mary Emerson, Brittney Blesener, Pam Stearns, Paul Zollver, Lee Norton, and Betty Seckora. 4. Approval of agenda. Discussion and action. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to approve the agenda. Motion carried. 5. Minutes of May 13, 2009 town board meeting. Discussion and action. Clerk Slabaugh read the minutes of May 13, 2009 town board meeting. Chairperson Bethel asked for additions or correction to the minutes. None given. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to accept minutes as read. Motion carried. 6. Treasurer’s report and report of accounts receivable. Discussion and action. Treasurer Luell gave the following report: In Johnson Bank – as of 04/30/09 in the checking account was $241,550.41. General Deposits $1,840.65. Interest $176.80. Total Credits $243,567.86. Checks Returned $77,148.09. Bank Statement Balance on 05/31/09 $166,419.77. Outstanding Checks $4,713.22. Reconciled Balance on 05/31/09 $161,706.55. Discussion followed. On motion by Swearingen / Wallace to accept treasurer’s report as read. Motion carried. 7. Public comments. None. 8. Zoning permits. Discussion and action. None. 9. Road maintenance. Discussion and action. a. Complaints and compliments. None. b. Monthly report on spring road projects. Chairperson Bethel gave an update on spring road projects. Discussion followed. On motion by Bethel / Swearingen authorizing Lee Norton to pick up a load of Blacktop. Motion carried. c. Letter to Lincoln Lake property owners concerning Pair O’ Lakes Road. Discussion followed. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to send the letter to Lincoln Lake property owners concerning Pair O’ Lakes Road. Motion carried. d. Authorize proposed order of new road sings. Discussion followed. On motion by Swearingen / Wallace to authorize Chairperson Bethel for place an order for new road signs. Motion carried. 10. Nomination of David Schroeder to fill three year term on Casey Plan Commission. Discussion and action. Discussion followed. On motion by Bethel / Wallace to nominate David Schroeder to fill three year term on Casey Plan Commission. Motion carried. 11. Applications for Liquor, Cigarette, and Operators Licenses. Examination and action. Application for liquor and cigarette license from: Nancy C Gorton, trade name Bass Lake Inn, Kimberly R Regner, agent for Pair O Lakes Lodge, Inc., trade name Pair O Lakes Lodge, and George P Basgall, agent for PUBA, Inc., trade name Twin Oaks Bar and Restaurant. Board viewed and discussed the applications. On motion by Bethel / Wallace to table liquor and cigarette license for George P Basgall, agent for PUBA, Inc., trade name Twin Oaks Bar and Restaurant with a possibility of an extra town board meeting. Motion carried. On motion by Bethel / Wallace to grant Nancy C Gorton, trade name Bass Lake Inn and Pair O Lakes Lodge, Inc., trade name Pair O Lakes Lodge, a liquor and cigarette license. Motion carried. Operator license application from: Stefanie L Gage, Randy L Hagstrom, Billie Jo R Lauritsen, Debra J Benjamin, Robert J Hayes, Marie A Lund, Janet E Mehsikomer Nancy J Ratzenberger, Rose A Tracy, Terri L Trainor, Michelle L Truman, Michael R Wells, Candace J Anderson, Georganne Behn, Katisa M Ferguson, Louise A Fischer, Nancy R Kalinowski, Betsy J Lambert, Cherie L Luell, Geri V Moore, Jonathan A Moore, and Mark W Regner. Board viewed operator license applications. On motion by Bethel / Wallace to grant operator licenses to the above persons. Motion carried. 12. Report on workshops attended and those who will be attending upcoming workshops. Discussion and action. Discussion followed. 13. Correspondence. Action and filing. Correspondence read by the board. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to file correspondence. Motion carried. 14. Paying of bills. Discussion and action. Bill numbers 5044 – 5057 submitted to the board for approval. The board discussed and initialed each bill approved. On motion by Bethel / Wallace to pay bill numbers 5044 – 5057. Motion carried. 15. Set date for next town board meeting. The next town board meeting will be Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at 7:00 p.m., at the Casey Town Hall. 16. Adjournment. At 8:10 p.m., on motion by Bethel / Wallace to adjourn. Motion carried.
