Minutes
1. Call the town board meeting to order.
At 7:06 p.m., the town board meeting was called to order by
Chairperson Gene Bethel, at the Casey Town Hall.
2. Confirmation of proper meeting notice.
Chairperson Bethel posted the meeting notice and agenda on October 4,
2008, in the posting cabinets located at the town hall, at the
junction of Dunn Lake and Island Lake Roads, at the junction of Pair O
Lakes Road and County Trunk E and at the junction of Blackburn Road
and County Trunk E between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.
3. Roll call.
Roll call taken. Present: Gene Bethel, Chairperson; Danny
Swearingen, Supervisor; Michael Wallace, Supervisor; Corinne
Slabaugh, Clerk; Cherie Luell, Treasurer. Also in attendance: Mary
Emerson and David Railsback.
4. Approval of agenda. Discussion and action.
On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to approve agenda. Motion carried.
5. Minutes of September 10, 2008 town board meeting. Discussion
and action.
Minutes of September 10, 2008 not available at this time, will be
available at the November 2008 meeting.
6. Treasurer’s report and report of account receivable. Discussion
and action.
Treasurer Luell gave the following report: In Johnson Bank - As of
08/31/08 in the checking account was $246,478.52. General Deposits
$410.00. Interest $246.30. Total Credits $247,134.82. Checks
Returned $13,975.58. Bank Statement Balance 09/30/08 $233,159.24.
Outstanding Checks $22.36. Reconciled Balance on 09/30/08
$233,136.88. Discussion followed. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen
to accept the treasurer’s report as read. Motion carried.
7. Public comments.
Concern with wood left on road by Barron Electric’s brushing crew.
8. Zoning permits. Discussion and action.
None.
9. Road maintenance. Discussion and action.
a. Complaints and compliments.
None.
b. Update on re-engineering of Townsend, Leisure Lake and Blackburn
Roads.
Chairperson Bethel gave an update on re-engineering of Townsend,
Leisure Lake, and Blackburn Roads. Discussion followed. On
motion by Wallace / Swearingen authorizing Chairperson Bethel draft a
letter to Richard Olsby concerning a driveway permit. Motion
carried.
c. Update on summer patrolling and blacktop patching projects.
Supervisor Swearingen gave an update on summer patrolling
and blacktop patching projects.
10. Report on Casey Plan Commission activities. Discussion and
action.
Mary Emerson gave a report on the Plan Commission Meeting that was
held on October 6, 2008.
11. Applications for Liquor, Cigarette, and Operators Licenses.
Examination and action.
Operator license application from: Billie Jo Lauritsen. Board
viewed application. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to grant
operator license to Billie Jo Lauritsen. Motion carried.
12. Report on workshops attended and those who will be attending
upcoming workshops. Discussion and action.
Clerk Slabaugh and Mary Emerson gave a report on the Wisconsin Towns
Association 2008 Budget and Finance Workshop held on September 26,
2008 at Cable. Clerk Slabaugh also attended the Wisconsin Municipal
Clerks Association District # 1 Meeting, at Barnes, on October 3,
2008.
13. Correspondence. Action and filing.
Correspondence read by the board. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen
to file correspondence. Motion carried.
14. Paying of bills. Discussion and action.
Bills numbers 4869 – 4887 submitted to the board for approval. Board
discussed and initialed each bill approved. On motion by Wallace /
Swearingen to pay bills numbers 4869 – 4887. Motion carried.
15. Set date for next town board meeting and revise date for budget
workshop.
The next town board meeting will be Wednesday, November 12,
2008, immediately following the Budget Hearing and Special Town
Meeting which starts at 7:00 p.m. at the Casey Town Hall. Budget
workshop will be October 22, 2008, at 6:00 p.m. at the Casey Town
Hall.
16. Adjournment.
At 8:34 p.m., on motion by Wallace / Swearingen to adjourn. Motion
carried.
